Recently MSNBC let go conservative Republican commentator Pat Buchanan. Of course in typical Republican style he did what all conservatives who are losing out now do. He threw a hussy fit similar to a two year old child’s tantrum.
He went on a fellow conservative’s talk show “Morning Joe” and ranted and raved. He claimed that he had some sort of right to a job, unlike the millions of unemployed Americans. He said he was being silenced because of his political views, while on a show seen internationally. He claimed he was a victim of some “vast left wing conspiracy” but the fact is that good ol’ boy Pat has gone so far right most everyone is to the left of him.
Any of this remind you of the stories about John McCain holding his breath when he did not get his way? Quick, someone call the Whaaaambulance!
The one thing that it seems these neo-cons are super good at is pining for some lost America where they were right. They also seem blind to the fact that our nation has for the most part, moved beyond their very narrow views of the world. One crystal clear fact about them is that they will bribe, buy, lie, cheat and steal in any way to maintain their outdated view of our nation and hold onto power with their gnarled, arthritic hands.
However, there are numerous things white, Christian, conservative Republicans fail to see. They are so numerous, it really confounds the mind how they miss all of it.
They think they speak for the majority of Americans and fail to see that in reality the majority are tired of hearing their wheedling voices. They cannot envision speaking only for the billionaires, bankers, Wall St. firms and PAC’s that keep them on the air and in office.
They cannot admit that America is no longer a nation that exclusively caters to older, rich, white men. It has evolved, though they do not believe in evolution either. Our nation now includes people of other faiths, other skin tones, other places of birth and yes even women. They are terrified that everyone of those groups could have rights that are equal to their own.
They think caring for our environment is some sort of weird religion. They also know that caring for the environment is against the wishes of Karl Rove, the Koch brothers and big business. Naturally that makes it some sort of Voodoo. The fact of the issue is that just about everyone would like drinkable water, breathable air, untainted beef and fresh food. Not only would people like these things, we kind of need them to survive. We need those items way more than a Las Vegas casino owner needs a President of The United States in his pocket.
To this end they support trillions spent on war and the disbanding of the EPA, the USDA, the FDA and any other government agency that might protect the people and cut down on corporate profit.
I have said this before and I will say it again. Let these big energy backers move to fracking sites and drink the well water there. Let them eat the beef that has drank radio active fracking fluid. Let them wonder if their house will explode if they light a match. I bet they would love sea food from the gulf or fresh caught from the beach at Fukushima that has not been inspected. They can grow their own vegetables in the areas stripped for tar sand oil. Let them make their bread from wheat that grows wild around Chernobyl. When they get sick….so what? Let them spend money on untested drugs or stand in line for a free health fair!
Some talk about getting rid of public education and how the intellectuals are somehow elite. Yeah that would make it easy for them. With their fancy college degrees that mom and dad paid for they would be the smartest people in the nation. They want our people to be stupid unless they are rich! They envision your child becoming not a computer programmer or a business owner, but a janitor or a mine worker. This has gone on for some time. While their kids eat salmon and veal at their private schools it was good old Ronnie Reagan that first said that ketchup was a vegetable for poor kids. It did not work in the 80′s but did not stop them from trying it again recently by saying that the tomato sauce on pizza counts as a vegetable for the poor.
It is a proven fact. Our nations economy goes in the toilet when Republicans hold power. Unemployment rates rise, services are reduced and restrictions on big corporations are reduced. The people lose and the rich win, period.
They are war mongers to a point. They love to go to war in areas where there is oil or some other resource to be gained. They hate to go to war on principle or to help end genocide or human suffering. Glad there was not a Republican in the White House during WWII. How their party has changed. Could you see a modern neo-con going to war to free slaves in our nation like President Lincoln did? I think not! Modern Conservatives bristle at the fact that the Civil War involved slavery and will challenge you if you say the founding fathers condoned it.
Over the past few years who have they told us to hate?
Well there was the French because they said no to President Shrub. That is when we replaced French fries with Freedom fries.
Then there were the Japanese because they were buying our country by investing here.
The Iraqis because they had fictional weapons of mass destruction.
Colombians because they were drug lords.
Mexicans for filling up our schools, prisons and welfare system all while taking our jobs.
Muslims because after all they are all terrorist.
Chinese for loaning us money.
African Americans because they are obviously dangerous in some way. (Think Willie Horton)
Women because they want the right to control what happens to their bodies, and we all know women’s bodies are the property of the Christian faithful.
War heroes like John Kerry because he was a fake or Pat Tillman because he was real. Real war heroes are men like President Shrub and Sen.John McCain.
Russians because their President was way more manly than ours.
North Koreans because they developed a real weapon of mass destruction right under our noses, then made us look bad by detonating it. Also because their leader would kick our leaders but in a game of golf.
Scientists because they can prove things like the earth is older than 5’000 years and we evolved and conservatives have no proof of what they say.
Unions because they can affect the profit margin.
Teachers because they actually teach kids to think.
Doctors because they might perform procedures that insurance companies do not want to pay for.
And the list goes on and on. These are all groups that conservative Republicans have issues with. So who are their friends? Rich, white men. That is it!
The Republican party is a party of faith in God, freedom and America. They want freedom of religion as long as you worship their God. They want freedom of choice as long as you have faith they can choose what is best for you. They believe in America as a place of wealth and power for them, a third world nation for everyone else. They have faith our land is vast and bountiful. The vast land belongs to the banks and the bounty belongs to the oil companies. The rest of us can wander from toxic area to toxic area like nomads. They know that we are all equal under the law but they are more equal than others. Somehow they also all have the utmost faith that it is still 1949 and our nation is the best in the world in all things.
Facts be damned. They. Do. Not. Need. Facts.
I do not worry about Pat Buchanan. I doubt he will lose any home he owns or any car he sometimes drives. He will not lose his investments or be on the unemployment line anytime soon. To bad though. If he got a taste of what the average American is going through he might, just might, change his views.
(Sigh!) That is doubtful though. After all he is part of the white, Christian, old time American, 1%.
Yeah, but the problem is no one can think of any you Republicans didn't get around to.
