Frank Schaeffer is one of the founders of the fundamentalist Conservative Christian movement that has become so entangled with the Republican Party.  He has since seen the error of his ways and now has distanced himself completely from the movement he helped to start.

Schaeffer appeared on the Rachel Maddow Show on Monday evening and gave a warning to everyone in this country.  The words he said made my blood run cold.  He is telling this nation that  leaders in his former movement are calling for the assassination of President Obama by using Bible Speak to their followers.

Now I know that most Fundamentalist Christians, even the most rabid right leaning ones, will not take up this idea.  However, many will promote it and there are some very real crazy people in their ranks who just might consider it an honor to do this and in fact, their duty.

Psalms 109:8 is what is causing all the problems.  It is being printed on tee-shirts, bumper stickers and even teddy bears and seems harmless enough until you actually read the Bible verse.  Then you get into some very deep water.

I’ll let the video explain the whole thing to you.  But just so you are aware, many stores on the internet have taken this merchandise off of their sales pages.  Sites that earn their money from politics by selling bumper stickers, tees, etc. have removed the offensive material.  I don’t think it is an act of conscience by most.  Rather it was Democratic sites pulling their merchandise that lead to the sudden awakening.

I won’t say enjoy the video.  Its message is not very enjoyable.
