Forty nine million Americans today.  That’s more than the forty five million that have no health care.  Forty nine million of us all have one thing in common.  What is it?

To give them credit CNN reported on this issue yesterday.  Rick Sanchez who in my opinion, is by far the best reporter on CNN had a small segment on his show about this topic.

So what is this problem that is becoming a bigger and bigger silent issue in our nation?  What is it that you and your family may be victims of without even being aware of it?

Any guesses what it could be?

No?

Try contaminated drinking water.  Yes, the water you drink.

According to recent EPA numbers forty nine million Americans are exposed to unacceptable amounts of: Arsenic, Cyanide, Nuclear Waste and bacteria found in human waste in their drinking water!  Sounds yummy to me!  This is in addition to a whole host of other contaminates that are at acceptable levels and which we consume every single day.

Of course this problem has sprung up an entirely new industry of building bigger and better water filters in an attempt to bring the toxins in our drinking water down to acceptable levels.  I am left wondering what type of filter you can construct that will get rid of radiation?

I am also left wondering exactly who it is that determines the amount of poison, drugs, radiation and literal crap in my drinking water is acceptable.  I sure as hell know its not me!

Its left to the wonder brains at government agencies.  The guys that did not quite make the grade to work in the private sector determine just exactly how much poison is too much poison for us to ingest.  It is left for them to decide how much our water should be filtered and believe me, it all comes down to cost.

I think we all kn0w how much chemical contamination we would like to see in our water, how much radiation or things like arsenic and mercury.  On a scale of one to one hundred I would choose a number like…..ZERO!  That is how much contamination I want in my water… ZERO!

I for one think that vain attempts to filter contaminates out of our water, though well intentioned, ignore the root of the problem.

What we need to do, every one of us, is crack the down like hell on people we see causing the problem to begin with.  Be it a farm that sprays toxins on its crops or a garage dumping crap down the drain we need to stop it!

As a nation we are more concerned with a neighbor that fails to pick up his dog crap than we are about the guy down the street that dumps his used motor oil in a storm drain.  We sit and watch as toxic sludge is dumped into rivers and streams passively while worrying about what organic vegetables to buy.

Well guess what… if the water is poison so are your so called organic products!  Sorry to burst your bubble but if the water is contaminated so is anything that drinks it!

We need to keep an eye on this issue and make it part of the discussion of where our nation is heading.

We also need to replace some of these morons that think we will accept what they consider to be “acceptable levels of toxins” as really acceptable levels of toxins in our water.

Just one more item for us to think about.

We must act to ensure clean drinking water. Water is essential to ALL life on earth. We must not contaminate it.
