Sue Lowden-Republican Values

Posted under Elections,Right Wing Nuttery,Senate,Video by brian on Thursday 27 May 2010 at 6:14 pm

Sue Lowden who is notorious for her Chickens for Checkups suggestion wants to be the Senator from my home state of Nevada.  She has high ambitions in that she wants to replace Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

I don’t want to say bad things about this poor deluded woman.  But I can’t resist pointing out that she is about the most comic thing to have ever come along in Nevada politics.  I mean, she is the reason that Nevadans now actually have a law against wearing chicken costumes to our polling places.  So how are her supporters supposed to vote?

In all seriousness Lowden has big problems in her campaign.  It seems she doesn’t know at all what she is doing.  She also doesn’t seem to know where she stands on issues that are of importance to the majority of Americans, including Nevadans.

Sue Lowden wants to play to the tea baggers and other wing nuts, but she hesitates to come out and say she believes in the things they do.  As an example of this, watch the video below and see how she avoids answering the Civil Rights Act question that got Rand Paul in so much hot water.  She is not very smooth in trying to avoid the question.

Poor Sue Lowden.  She may be very rich, but I don’t think she is quite up to prime time yet.

New Vote Vets Ad on Oil

Posted under Military,National Happenings,Video, environment by brian on Thursday 27 May 2010 at 5:50 pm

Votes Vets is a great group.  You have probably seen their ads about oil drilling and the relationship it has to war and the deaths of soldiers.

They hit the nail right on the head, because as we all know, big energy companies combined with our thirst for a greater percentage of the worlds oil than any other country definitely do aide our enemies by paying them billions for their product.   We do this while our military is doing battle with theirs.  Seems like we are paying them to kill us, doesn’t it?

Now Vote Vets has put out another ad.  This one combines their support for clean energy along with the Gulf Oil Disaster.  It again hits the subject head on with a big dose of truth.

Take a look at the video and see if you agree.  It is high time we clean up our environment, improve our economy and break our dependence on fossil fuels.

Boat Loads of Crapola

Posted under National Happenings, environment by brian on Tuesday 25 May 2010 at 6:14 pm

As government officials and the heads of B.P. shovel  crap to us fast and furiously, even hardball reporters like Rachel Maddow spoon them softball questions.

The facts on the ongoing environmental tragedy are clear.  No One was prepared to deal with it. Plain and simple.  Now we all can pay the price.

The oil corporations said that they could deal with it.  The government claimed they policed it.  Tea bagger queen Sarah Palin supports the oil companies while tea bagger darling Rand Paul complains about the boot on BP’s neck.

Meanwhile, we live and die with their ideas.  Businesses are destroyed, jobs are lost and eco-systems are fatally compromised while they all plan the next attempt to stem the flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico.

Why is the media soft balling the largest environmental disaster to face our world?  Where are the questions like ‘where were BP’s safety measures’?  or ‘where was the government safety control’?  or ‘how is it that when you claimed you could contain a spill six times larger than this, your emergency control measures amounted to a big pile of dog crap when it actually happened’?

What about the serious question, ‘how do you think you will replace the species you are killing’? or the really big question, ‘when the hell are you going to stop spewing toxic sludge into our water, air and world?’

That is the question to which I would like an answer.  Sadly it is the only one they cannot seem to lie or fake their way out of because we can see with our own eyes what is happening.

But you can count on them to keep trying.

Under the Gulf is a Nightmare

You may already have seen the video that is with this post.  However, it is worth seeing again, if for no other reason than to put the exclamation point to the environmental catastrophe that is happening before our eyes in the Gulf of Mexico right now.

No oil spill this, nor a simple leak.  This is a gushing fount of oil that threatens to make the Gulf an ecological dead zone.  The potential to eliminate forever some species of birds, plants and wildlife that are on the endangered list is huge.  We must also realize an entire way of life along our Gulf Coast is seriously threatened with annihilation.

I am getting older and perhaps a little too cynical, but I don’t trust a big oil corporation to do what is in the best interest of the people and the environment.  Now it seems government agencies should not be trusted either, especially if you look at their history.

What I want right now as just a citizen of the United States and a person who is very interested in the environment and animals is for President Obama to do the following.

1.  Get really angry and let us all know you are as angry as we are.

2.  Tell BP to assist us with fixing this mess, not the other way around.

3.  Tell BP to stop using the chemical dispersant Corexit in which they have a monetary interest.  It is banned for use in the UK because it is so toxic.  Tell them to begin the use of any number of other proven dispersants that are much more eco-friendly and do the job as well or better than Corexit.  State this in no uncertain terms because they have a habit of ignoring what we want done in our waters.

4.  Forcefully tell BP that they are operating in our waters and they will do as we want unless they can prove that our  approach is wrong.  Let them know we will not sit quietly by as they rape our national treasures in the Gulf….period.

5.  If BP does not make substantial headway with taking care of their gusher within a very short amount of time then seize their assets to pay for fixing the mess and take it over ourselves.

6.  Issue not a moratorium but a halt to all deep water drilling off the coasts of the United States, unless or until the big energy corporations can submit a proven plan to clean up in case of a blowout.  In addition, make a law or rule that any deep water well drilling must be accompanied by the drilling of a standby relief well at the same time so it can be put into service quickly if the need should arise.

7.  Stay mad and enforce these actions in no uncertain terms.

8.  Bring all the expertise of the United States and its allies to bear on stopping the gushing of millions of barrels of oil into the Gulf and get the mess cleaned up as son as humanly possible.

This is what I want.  Of course, I also want a white unicorn that shits Starburst Fruit Chews.  I don’t know if I will get even a fraction of what I hope for.

I do know this for certain, we didn’t vote for business as usual when we put the Democratic side in charge in 2008.  Unfortunately, this whole mess in the Gulf is starting to look a whole lot like business as usual and that is just not good enough.

President Obama, I hate to say this, but you need to go a little ballistic on these asses.  It might not be in your nature but you will just have to dig deep and find it.  You can just rewatch the video below when you feel your anger start to flag. It will make you mad all over again.

Help Hold Fox Accountable

Posted under Fox Bull Plop,Hypocrisy,Right Wing Nuttery, hate by brian on Saturday 22 May 2010 at 4:50 pm

Fox News is now and has been for as long as I can remember, a thinly disguised shill for the Republican Party.  But since their collaboration with Dick Armey to pull the tea baggers together to protest, they have gone entirely off the deep end.

Rupert Murdoch is old and he must be getting at least a little senile to believe that it is okay to just say anything you want  and cloak it in the guise of news.  It seems he has created a news network that has little to do with journalism or the legitimate press.  What he has assembled is a group of malcontents and crazies like Glenn Beck and given them the keys to the network.  Anything goes and now it appears his hosts and anchors are engaged in a race to the bottom of the barrel armed with their scrapers.

We need to let the old Mr. Murdoch know, Roger Ayles and he cannot control our airwaves.  They need to learn that enough is enough and the vast majority of the American public believe in a free press that is not a froth at the mouth political wing masquerading as press.

From Color of Change;

John Stossel, a Fox News contributor and business anchor, said Thursday that a central piece of the Civil Rights Act should be repealed — the part that says businesses that serve the public can’t discriminate on the basis of race.

Fox News, as expected is starting to echo the Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul.  He is the darling of the tea bagger set, so naturally he will be the darling of Fox News too.

Color of Change is the organization that petitioned Glenn Becks sponsors and drove most of them away.  Please sign their petition which will be delivered to Rupert Murdoch.  Lets have lots of signatures and get the old boys attention, at least for a minute or two.  He really needs to hear from a big chunk of Americans who are no longer willing to put up with the Fox bull puckey.

If he does nothing about it, at least we will have drawn attention to Stossel and his racist comments.  Perhaps if we are lucky, we will also ruin Murdochs day.

Murdoch needs to understand we are Americans not Australians.  If he wants to interfere in politics he should do it in his own country.  Even though he became an American citizen in 1985 to get around the law saying only American citizens could own American television stations, he doesn’t seem to be much of an American.  The kicker is he says he won’t comment on Australian elections because he always gets in trouble when he does.  His move to American citizenship resulted in his losing  Australian citizenship.  This guy will even abandon his country in the pursuit of money and power.  What a piece of work.

Sign the petition here.

Take to the seas Rupert, you don't belong to Australia and most of America doesn't want you. The seafaring pirate life will fit well with your business "principles".

The New War on Drugs

Posted under Drug War,Hypocrisy,National Happenings, environment by brian on Saturday 22 May 2010 at 8:00 am

Our nation is addicted to a chemical substance.  The criminal lords that run this international ring have infiltrated our government to the highest levels.  Their influence in world affairs is unprecedented.  They ignore our laws and no matter their crime never see a single day behind bars.

They have every single person in our nation addicted to their product.  They destroy families, small businesses, wildlife habitat, and jobs then expect us to keep paying for their mistakes.  People keep dying, animals are driven to extinction and many billions of dollars are the cost of their business.

These people are not criminal Colombian drug cartels.  Sadly they are the people that provide the very life blood that drives our cars and lights our homes.  Their product is energy and if our nation had the courage to look ahead in the 1970′s they would now be as outcast and reviled as their cocaine and heroine counterparts.

What would we all think of Sarah Palin and John McCain if they stood up and said ‘snort baby, snort’ instead of ‘drill baby drill’?  How about a President of The United States that was a failed cocaine lord?  Even better a Vice President that was formerly the number one man in a Colombian drug ring and now was trusted to negotiate a deal with them?  What would you think of a DEA that did drugs with the cartels and sought prostitutes through them?

You may think I stretch the realities of life a little bit by making this comparison.  I would like to point out a few realities that are part of our everyday world.  Using illegal drugs is a choice.  Addiction happens to many people that use drugs.  Using coal and oil to light your home and drive your car is NOT a choice.  There are alternatives to our oil and coal addiction but just like a rehab clinic they are expensive and not readily available to the common working citizen.

I feel the reason that power alternatives are not affordable and illegal drugs are is our government.   Street drug prices are a true look at supply and demand.  The price is based on how much product is available and how many people seek to purchase it.  On the flip side of the coin we have world wide mega corporations with agents in every government making payoffs and supplying drugs and women while the heads of PACs and lobbying groups fix the price and write the rules by which they operate.

Drugs and weapons are a story as old as time.  The use of coal, oil, salt and other natural resources is just as old.  What we fail to see in our country is that the worlds largest supplier of weapons and guns that the cartels use is our own nation.  We also fail to acknowledge that the largest consumer of the product that the cartels produce is also our own nation.

Drug dealers can now be convicted for murder in some jurisdictions for supplying a product that a person died from.  Three quarters of the prisoners held in our nation are currently incarcerated for nonviolent drug crimes.  Thanks to our current drug laws we have more people in jail or prison in our nation at taxpayers expense than ANY other nation in the world, including China.

I am left to wonder how many energy providers are in jail or prison?  They kill people through neglect of their mines and oil rigs.  The toxic emissions from their power plants and autos kill untold thousands, but just a bit slower than a needle in the arm.  They ignore safety regulations in their coal mines resulting in the death of innocent workers.  They LIE about safety test results on their oil rigs resulting in more deaths of innocent workers.  Why are these leaders of criminal activity not on trial or even charged with a crime?  PAC’s, lobbies and REAL clout is why.  They are nothing more than the biggest and baddest gangsters in the world.

What would the public outcry be if it was five million barrels of cocaine being spilled into the Gulf Of Mexico every day?  What if it was heroine washing up on the beach and killing wildlife?  How would you react to crystal meth killing off endangered species, wiping out 85% of our nations seafood and destroying thousands of livelihoods along with the environment?

Is there a difference?

Dick Cheney former vice president of the United States. Former CEO of Halliburton ( where his real alligence lies). He just loves him some oil derricks. This is the ugly face of big oil corporations.

Meet Rand Pauls Opponent

Posted under Elections,Senate,Video by brian on Saturday 22 May 2010 at 7:00 am

By BobbiV

I want to introduce you to Jack Conway.  He is Kentucky’s Attorney General and the Democratic candidate for the United States Senate from Kentucky.  That means he is running at a disadvantage because he is a Democratic candidate in Kentucky.  But he is running against Rand Paul whose latest foot in mouth incident was Friday when he said that President Obama was acting un American because he was putting his heel on the throat of BP.  Really?

Anyway, Rand Paul is an ass and would like to take this country back two or more centuries.  He is also the darling of the tea bagger crowd.  His viewpoints fit right in with theirs.

Jack Conway is an impressive young man who from all appearances has a really good chance of beating Rand Paul.  That is quite a turn of events for the state of Kentucky.  Although the state has more registered Democrats than Republicans, they seem to keep electing the Republican candidates.  It is also the home state of Senator Mitch McConnell, the Senate Minority Leader.

Because of the problems Paul has had with Senator McConnell, even going so far as to say he wasn’t sure he would vote for McConnell as Minority Leader, and because of his far out of the mainstream views, this is going to be an interesting race to watch.  Especially if Rand Paul keeps espousing his radical ideas, thereby putting his heel on the throat of his own campaign.

Jack Conway was on The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer on Friday.  Watch the video of his interview with Blitzer and see what you think of the candidate. I think you will agree with me when I say he is impressive.

The latest regarding Rand Paul is that he has backed out of his scheduled appearance on Meet The Press this Sunday.  He is only the third guest in the 62 year history of the show to do so.  Is that into the fire thing starting to burn him?  Does he want back into the frying pan instead?

I have an idea that little Rand will be in class all weekend being taught some manners and how to deal with the politics of today.  I think publicly defending BP just might be one step too far.  Senate Republicans do support corporations almost to the exclusion of all else.  They just don’t say it so bluntly in public.
