MLK Embarrasses Scott Walker

Wisconsin’s sham of a governor has a lot for which he should be embarrassed. The tea bagger Republican has insulted, disgusted and alienated much of the United States right along with his home state. Last Monday was Martin Luther King … Continue reading

Labor Day Parade Sans Republicans

We should have known we could count on the steel spined Democratic Wisconsinites to be the ones to tell their Republican House members and state lawmakers they are not invited to or welcome at the local Labor Day Parade.

Good for the people of Wisconsin! Specifically Wausau, Wisconsin.

From Journal-Sentinel;

In a statement, Radtke added that parade is intended to celebrate working men and women and what the labor movement has given them: weekends, a 40-hour work week, child labor protection and a safe working environment.

“It should come as no surprise that organizers choose not to invite elected officials who have openly attacked worker’s rights or stood idly by while their political party fought to strip public workers of their right to collectively bargain,” Radtke said.

Some of the snubbed Republican representatives from the Wausau area include U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy, state Sen. Pam Galloway (R-Wausau) and State Rep. Jerry Petrowski (R-Marathon).

You might remember Sean Duffy as the newly elected US Representative who has previously starred in a reality show. He ran into problems with the Ryan Budget at a town hall. Then he told his constituents he was having a hard time making ends meet on his $174,000.00 Congressional salary.

Now Duffy is bot invited to his local Labor Day Parade. He might just be rethinking a few things right about now.

It is almost a standing joke in movies, plays and television shows, but the local Labor Day Parade is a big deal in a lot of small and not so small towns across America. It is the one day that honors the hard work of the laborers in this country. Labor Day and Labor Day Parades are supposed to celebrate the sacrifice and sweat we all put in to do our everyday jobs.

The way Republicans have acted towards labor and unions, I would turn my back on a Republican lawmaker in my local Labor Day Parade. These spoiled brats can whine all they want but they would do well to remember this country would not be this country if it wasn’t for the millions of us workers.

So true and don't forget it!
